Purpose of Program: The AANAPISI and the NASNTI programs provide grants to eligible institutions of higher education to enable them to improve their academic quality, increase their self sufficiency and strengthen their capacity to serve students. To meet the definition of an AANAPISI, an institution must have an enrollment of undergraduate students that is at least 10 percent Asian American and Native American
Pacific Islander. To meet the definition of an NASNTI, an institution must have an enrollment of undergraduate students that is at least 10 percent Native American at the time of application. Program Authority: Section 499A and Title III of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (HEA), 20 U.S.C. 1099e.
